The Challenge: A rural farm required reliable CCTV coverage along with Wi-Fi connectivity for making and receiving phone calls. However, the site presented two obstacles that ruled out a standard installation: poor cellular coverage with limited 4G reception, and no straightforward power solution for equipment spread across a large, remote property.

What We Installed: Sectek designed a fully self-sufficient surveillance network and configured a separate VLAN for Wi-Fi calling. Thermal cameras provide detection around the clock, day or night, regardless of lighting conditions, while PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras allow the client to zoom in for a closer look at anything the thermals detect. Ubiquiti point-to-point links carry footage across the property, with Ubiquiti access points delivering fast, reliable Wi-Fi. A Starlink satellite connection keeps the site online despite the lack of cell coverage, and solar towers power every piece of remote equipment with no trenching and no mains connection required.

The Result: Complete, around-the-clock visibility over a site that conventional camera systems couldn’t reach running entirely on its own power, its own network, its own Wi-Fi calling capability, and its own internet connection.
